… and there you have it! What more needs be said, other than what we are aiming to do as a group is to be a creative and social hub for service users pursuing an active recovery. To offer not only creativity in the form of a range of fantastic arts and crafts, but to nurture group members, and give them the support that is often not found elsewhere. We’re not aiming to act as counsellors or offer therapy. We’re not the AA or NA or ALANON. We’re not the NRP or PHOENIX-FUTURES…
We’re H.A.R.T. Offering Hope, Art & Recovering Together.

MY DREAM

Ever since, I was a little person, I wanted to help others less fortunate. I think my brother wanted to be a Fireman. See, I was adopted when I was four and had it pretty rough, all through my childhood, and it seemed decisions were made for me, as though I never had a voice. So instead of growing  up and speaking out, I hid behind the addiction of drink, not caring what people did or said, nodding like a good girl and carrying on my dysfunctional life…. Until about 10 months into my recovery, I was asked ‘What would be your dream job.’

Well that’s where it started, my dream to help others in addiction recovery, as in truth never once in all my days, have I ever not cared what people do or say. It is a very important part of life as it can build self esteem or kill it, as it killed me for too many years, and I won’t sit back and watch others not know what life is really all about, and help give them the chance to really experience the joys of what sobriety brings. They never promised it would be easy, but I promise from the bottom of my H.A.R.T it will be worth it.

WELCOME
HART
ARE:

Our Mission: It was only in May 2012 when our Chair, Mel Wallis, had the idea of setting up a group that would allow those of us in progressive and sustained recovery from alcohol and substance misuse the opportunity to attend a once-a-week session of arts and crafts - mixed with an informal and relaxed atmosphere… where coffee and nibbles and conversation and support are as important as actually promoting recovery through creativity with the arty bits that would be on offer. That ‘idea’ has quickly turned into a reality. February 2013 sees the start of H.A.R.T. Sessions, and now we’ve received funding through the Substance Misuse Recovery Fund via the Norfolk Community Foundation we’re gathering the materials and equipment needed to give you, our potential members, the best art and craft related materials with which to work. For more info go to the ABOUT US section of the site and see what we’ve got to offer.
